About Me

I've always loved taking pictures of everything in sight, and before my trip to the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, I signed up for a photography class to learn how to use my SLR. For our final project, we had to submit photos that were based around a theme.  Some people focused on pictures of their kids or their pets. Well, what do I do in my spare time?  That's easy: I stuff my face!  So, my class project was based on photos of food that I prepared. During this time, a friend of mine sent me the link to Smitten Kitchen and I was inspired! Then I got to thinking - I have all these photos of delicious food - why don't I create a blog too?  And that is how Hom Nom was started. A mix of my photography class and inspiration from Smitten Kitchen. I should mention that a good year before this, I would always take photos of everything I ate at restaurants with my iPhone - usually dessert but sometimes other interesting things, and then posted these pictures to my facebook page. A food blog seemed like the next logical step.

I added a section about "food while traveling", in addition to the recipes I make when I am at home in NYC, to capture all of my adventures while traveling, domestic, international, and in-flight!

Some of my favorite foods include a great medium rare burger, various dumplings from around world, pepperoni pizza (sometimes Hawaiian), home made ice cream, and champagne (preferably Krug or Ruinart).

How did I come up with the title, Hom Nom? My best friend and I always end our conversations with HNHN, instead of XOXO.  HNHN meaning "hom nom hom nom". Perfect name for my blog!
