A Banana Smoothie for Breakfast

Yay, a new breakfast recipe! I always bring breakfast to work (and my lunch, for that matter). Usually I bring in oatmeal with topped with chopped nuts and berries, but I needed some variety. I have mentioned how I started trying out some recipes from the Bon Appetit Food Lover's Cleanse, which is where I found this. I have to admit, the cleanse was a bit hard to follow when you are just cooking for one person. I ended up just picking 1-2 things I wanted for lunch and dinner and made enough to last a few days to get me through the week. This recipe was one of them, and is very quick to throw together.

Yes, a big change from the tasting menus and lamb loins.

I'm really going to have to start cooking at home soon...but there are so many new places I want to try, I have major FOMO! 

The bottom line is that Piora still has the best sunchokes I've had so far, and order the roast chicken when you go to the NoMad.

Ferran Adrià: Notes on Creativity

Whaaaat? An exhibit on Ferran Adria? Food and art! Cool! This exhibit showcases chef Ferran Adria's notes, sketches, and processes (?) during the time that he was at El Bulli.

For those who are not familiar with Ferran Adria, he was the chef at the acclaimed El Bulli in Spain from the 1984 to 2011, when the restaurant closed. He became famous for his techniques with molecular gastronomy or deconstructivist cuisine.

I sadly never made it to El Bulli before it closed, but after this exhibit, I'm hoping for a revival. Or, maybe if we are lucky, a pop up restaurant in New York (that's a joke).

One of my favorite things to keep tabs on is restaurant openings around town. With things such as Eater, the NY Mag Power Rankings, and Tables for Two in the New Yorker, it is pretty easy to get a long mental list of "where to eat next". After reading about Dover for a few weeks, I made a reservation for Amitha and I to go check it out.
