Chili

Alyx, Deb and I went to the unveiling of the Wonder Woman line for MAC at the Flatiron store.  Kim, skilled makeup artist that she is, put all kinds of pink and red lipstick on us and then we may or may not have overdosed on glitter.  What? You can never have too much glitter.  Throughout the duration of the event, waiters handed out cocktails left and right.  In the spirit of the evening - why not?

Post-event, Alyx decided she wanted to make some chili back at the palace.  So we went to Whole Foods and she picked up all the ingredients.  We then came home and prepped away.  Yes, at 10pm at night.

So in short, a binge on hot pink lipstick + frosty winter night = chili.

Sautéing the red onions

Adding in the ground beef

A melange of kidney beans, beef stock, diced tomatoes and spices simmering away...

About half way done here

It wouldn't be chili without sour cream and cheddar cheese!

I had already eaten dinner that night, and didn't think I'd want more food.  But OMG.  Once I had my first and second helpings, it took all kinds of restraint to not go back for thirds...

I don't have the actual recipe that we used, but I know we used 1 whole red onion (diced), 1 jalapeno pepper (seeds left in), some amount of ground beef - maybe 1/2 pound?, 1 14-oz. can of diced tomatoes, chili powder and some other spices, 1 14-oz. can of kidney beans and some of Alyx's home made beef stock.  Essentially we browned the onions first.  Then we added the beef and the peppers to cook.  After about 5 minutes, we added in the tomatoes, kidney beans and other spices.  We let this simmer for about 50 minutes.

I'd like to add that there is probably a healthy dose of MAC wonder woman silver glitter in the chili too, given that we were both doused in the dust.
